How the sea monitoring system works
All swimming spots in Hvar are part of the national water-quality monitoring programme run by the Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries. Samplings are carried out multiple times per week during the season, and the results are publicly available. For the 2025 season, a total of 13 bathing areas are shown.
Water quality in 2025
The 'excellent' rating was awarded to 13 out of 13 swimming spots in Hvar. This is in line with the EU Bathing Water Directive and means that microbiological parameters are below threshold values. Examples: Autokamp Vira, kupalište, Dominikanski samostan, Gradska plaža.
